Where to begin with this? First, let me give you a quick overview of what Style Collective is and does.
Style Collective is a membership community for female influencers to connect, grow, and learn how to be successful bloggers and entrepreneurs.
SC does this by providing the tools and resources necessary to do so, i.e. education via e-courses, resources such as templates for contracts with brands, monthly blog kits, affiliate programs, you name it!
I found Annie Spano, SC’s Founder + CEO, through a Sponsored Instagram story that found it's way into my feed, and I'm so glad it did! I took a free class they offered and joined very quickly thereafter.
It has been the best decision I've made for my Hems + Heard journey.
Why? I'm not some super genius, creative human who can do it all. I sometimes feel like bloggers give off this vibe, or just humans on social media in general. But seriously, I work a full-time job, have a husband, friends, life, and am doing my best to run and grow a Blog. I can't have or create all the things alone, based on time...and my brain just doesn't roll like that, ya know? In addition to not being super-human, it's not fun for me to do it alone. And I don't have to do it alone! SC has taught me these things. Asking for help and networking with fellow Bloggers is a good and positive thing.
Why? It has brought me community with a wide range of bloggers, both new and seasoned, and many in a similar stage of blogging, which is nice. Empathy, y’all! I was able to attend the first annual conference in April (I talk a little more about this later on in the post) and meet some of the fellow members in real life, which was a really cool experience. Regardless of whether or not you’re able to make it to a face-to-face event, Annie and her team at SC provide numerous ways to connect virtually, whether it’s through a question/answer forum or group specific to your style of blogging, just to stay connected within the larger community.
Why? Did I mention RESOURCES? Monthly kits for your Blog (Think: content calendars that are ready for you to fill in with your plans, lists of holidays and important dates, trends and what people are shopping for), courses to educate you on the terminology, ethics, and beyond of blogging, as well as contract templates for working with brands. You name it, they've got it. And they are all right there, ready for your use. In one sentence, SC is your roadmap to keep you focused with a vision and head on towards your goal, and not get steered by creating random, confusing content for your readers.
As I mentioned above, I attended the first annual Style Collective 2018 Conference in Raleigh, NC earlier this year. I flew from Denver to Raleigh knowing not a soul. I walked in Saturday morning - there was Annie! Welcoming me and calling me by name, though we had only interacted directly a few times online. She’s incredible, y’all! You can read about the conference and my experience in my #SCCon18 Recap Blog Post. The sponsors, team, everything, were incredible. They are all showcased in this recap post as well as some fun photos from my weekend!
"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’”
- C.S. Lewis
I have always adored this quote by C.S. Lewis, and it has come to mind several times since I joined SC in January. Shared experience. Support. Generosity. So many “ME. TOO.” moments in Raleigh earlier this year. The community is special!
S O L D ? You should be!!! I’m a girl on a budget that’s a tough sell right now - and every penny has been beneficial, whether it’s a membership fee or buying a conference ticket. Don’t let that stop you from the opportunities SC provides.
